Creating Custom Meta Data Views In Aperture
As promised, here's another video tutorial showing another way to get the most out of Aperture. I'm pleased to say the response to my first video tutorial was fantastic. Thanks for all the comment and kind words. In this tutorial, I talk about creating a custom view of your meta data and how set it up so you can add that data the minute you import your memory card and files into Aperture.
It's the perfect window into how you can customize Aperture to fit your workflow. It's this sort of application that makes Aperture a true pro application designed to help you move through your images faster and with efficiency and accuracy. Enjoy! JT

Liked what you said early on about Aperture not ruling the way you do things but you can control it to suit your needs. Whole heartedly agree with you, it's great to have this flexibility. Can be daunting to start with but can help users coming to photo management for the first time or from another program that didn't suit there way of working.
One little thing that I have done that works for my setup is to add a space (using spacebar) in the "keyword" and "Event Name" field when making the custom metadata palette so that those fields will show up in the import screen. Then I can add an event name (the same name I use in for the project) and generally 1 or 2 keywords in case I cannot keyword the project immediately.
Another great post. Helping me alleviate the boredom of the off season, and improve my work flow during the "never enough time" race season
